Herbert K. Roethe

	Herbert K. Roethe, age 85, of Pinckneyville, died Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at 3:50 a.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
	Herb was born in Pinckneyville on February 24, 2916, the son of Otto and Christina (Beck) Roethe.  He served in World War II as an Army Tec 4, was a lifelong member and holder of various offices at the Zion Lutheran Church, Pinckneyville, served on the High School Board of Education for three years, served with the Fire Department for many years, worked as a carpet layer for Haglers Furniture Store, Rhodes Burford Furniture and McDaniels Furniture.
	He married Edna Behm on April 9, 1940 in Pinckneyville and she survives.
	He is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Roger Kuhnert of Pinckneyville and Linda and Ed Caupert of Springfield, Ill.; two grandchildren, Chris and Cara Caupert of Springfield; one sister, Mildred Ziegler of Pinckneyville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Isabelle Roethe, Ervin and Hilda Roethe of Pinckneyville, Walter and dorothy Roethe of Columbia.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
	Visitation was held on Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Pinckneyville, and then on Friday from 9 until 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Pinckneyville.
	Funeral services were held on Friday, October 26 at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Russ Helbig officiating.  Interment was in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville.
	Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
	Arrangements were by Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville.
